The Best Shopping Is Group Shopping

I don’t love to shop, but I absolutely love it when we all go shopping together. Ever since high school or actually even before then, so many of my favorite times and best memories are from being in malls with so many girls and just laughing at anything and everything. Oh my god, so much fun.

Now, I see why malls and stores make shopping fun, or at least try to, especially for a bunch of kids hanging out together like we were back then. It was true in the ‘80s (don’t look at what we were wearing) and it’s true now: When any kind of store whether it’s Spencer’s or a bookstore, or clothes, or makeup, or GameStop, or anyplace when they make shopping a fun experience that appeals to many of a kind of customer, many of that kind of customer will collectively walk through your doors. I think it’s precisely like this guy, entrepreneur Barry Beck (he launched Bluemercury as a fun storefront to try and buy makeup and get salon treatments) says on this business podcast I subscribe to (nrf.com/blog/the-future-of-the-retail-store), “Human beings are social creatures. Shopping is a social experience.”

I took an Intro Philosophy class freshman year so I’ll put it like this: Going shopping is fun. Being social is fun. Therefore, applying Aristotelian logic, going shopping is being social. It’s a transitive property or something like that. I got an A.
